The rumour mill is in full swing about changes relating to the Apple’s MacBook Pro line. According to Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI securities (noted for his accurate apple predictions) a new 13 and 15’’ line will be launching in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Unlike previous upgrades, which have been seen as little more than tinkering with the time honoured design, expectations are high for a more dramatic overhaul. Most notable is the replacement of the function keys with an OLED display touch bar. On top of looking rather more stylish this will allow the overall design, working better with injection mould-made hinges and the innovative, more accurate butterfly mechanism keyboard already present in the new Macbook.
Another change expected from the new models Is the inclusion of the touch ID feature, already present on the iPhone. With none of the current model’s possessing this feature it will be a notable upgrade to the machines.
As with most new line’s they will be expected to be both lighter and thinner, have increased memory and a host of other more technical upgrades.
The display touch-bar then is an intriguing overhaul to a design that has mostly stayed the same for the best part of a decade. It seems a merging in qualities of the wildly popular iPad with the computer line at last.
It will be interesting to see how these rumours turn out, but with apple, we can never be sure when the next revolution in the industry will come.
